The Ones Who Feels Trees’ Grief

Look for the ones
with birds’ nests in their hair
uneven teeth
scars they don’t try to hide
purple ink stains on their hands

the ones
who talk about
rescue dogs
the haunted eyes of the winter
homeless
how one look of love without fear
and one twenty dollar bill
can warm like the sun

the ones who talk about
why poetry matters
the ways that plant leaves
love to be touched
the sorrowing folks in nursing homes
cats’ secrets
trees’ grief

the ones
who know why we are scared
and harm each other
who no longer want to be
prisoners of the mind and
their own opinions
know that every child
is everyone’s child
know that the actions of Love
are required now

the ones
who know where golden
threads can be found
and that the Sacred shines
and takes care of us
